1: AN ENDLESS SPORADIC - Magic Machine
Selected by: Raimond Fischbach
Country: USA
Sub-genre: Cross-over prog
Description: The debut by this one-man band was one of America’s best hidden secrets. However we will make sure that Zach Kamins’ sophomore album, featuring no less than Jonas Reingold on bass, will be better known to the rest of the world. This instrumental work brings old and brand new prog styles together, with jazz, fusion, classical and brass, in a way almost as wild as FreddeGredde does it. A wild, but not exhausting tour de force through styles, which is most rewarding when listened to with full attention.

2: GHOST COMMUNITY - Cycle of Life
Selected by: Peter Funke
Country: UK
Sub-genre: Progressive Rock
Description: Right from the start the music touches you in a charming mix of rhythm and melodic rocking guitar. This classic five piece lineup from Cardiff delivers a pleasant sound with well known and experimental keyboard sounds and powerful guitars. Dueling guitar and keyboard parts, evolving themes, chord cascades and a fine voice ensure the pleasure listening to this album. The _Cycle of Life_ (in 16 minutes) is a very well constructed opus. The quiet storytelling start leads soon in a first major theme and shows convincing interaction of the whole band. High quality debut!

3: SPARKLE IN GREY - Brahim Izdag
Selected by: Raffaella Berry
Country: Italy
Sub-genre: Electronic/ethnic post-rock
Description: In these troubled times, in which intolerance seems to erupt all around us, Sparkle In Grey’s latest album, Brahim Izdag, is a celebration of multiculturalism. The Milan-based collective blend rock and electronics with ethnic sounds and political messages in a heady mix. It would make an ideal soundtrack for a documentary-film about the early years of the 21st century.

4: HOMINIDO - Alados
Selected by: André de Boer
Country: Chile
Sub-genre: Latin prog fusion
Description: Impressed by Jez Rowden's recommendation of this band back in 2014 (edition 27), I'd like to recommend their new and second album Alados. Jez wrote that this band offered a "clever integration of South American and Indian rhythms and percussion ... for a stunning listen that covers jazz, prog metal, math rock and world music". I agree on that for one hundred percent, and would like to add that this is a very enjoyable listening adventure, offering everything from easy going to metal-ish. Huzzah!

5: ILL WICKER - Untamed
Selected by: Raffaella Berry
Country: Sweden
Sub-genre: Psychedelic prog-folk
Description: Gothenburg-based quintet Ill Wicker take their inspiration directly from seminal acid-folk bands of the early seventies such as Comus, Jan Dukes de Grey and Spirogyra, though with modern production values. The haunting vocal and instrumental textures featured on their second album, Untamed, reminiscent of a Northern European pagan celebration, will appeal to those who like the weirder and darker side of prog-folk.
