1: FREEDOM TO GLIDE - Fall
Selected by: Andy Read
Country: UK
Sub-genre: Progressive rock
Description: It was in the very first edition of SFTW that I recommended Rain, the debut offering from this British duo (read the full dprp review here). Fall is the second in the trilogy of war-themed albums from f2g. With World War 1 as the backdrop, the album also covers the events that follow, from WW2 up to present day. It sees Andy Nixon and Pete Riley drifting away from the Pink Floyd sounds which dominated Rain, to create a sound and identity of their own. Over an hour of beautifully crafted progressive rock with story that moves you.

2: GUARDS OF MAY - Future Eyes
Selected by: Andy Read
Country: Australia
Sub-genre: Crossover
Description: The hypnotic debut offering from this young five-piece out of Brisbane, clearly fits into the dynamic style perfected by the likes of Dead Letter Circus, Karnivool and Cog. The overall feel is more restrained, due chiefly to the calming vocals, and every songs has a focus on the melody. The band could stretch out a few of its compositions, but for those who enjoy this sound, this is a band to keep and eye out for in the future!

3: NICOTINA ES PRIMAVERA - Animal Cerámico
Selected by: Raffaella Berry
Country: Argentina
Sub-genre: Chamber/Avant Prog
Description: The outstanding debut album by Nicotina Es Primavera, a seven-piece ensemble from Buenos Aires, led by Peruvian-born flutist and composer Camilo Angeles, is a stylish example of chamber prog that deftly blends melody and dissonance in an intricate sonic tapestry. Animal Cerámico will make a great addition to any Avant Prog fan’s music collection.

4: GHOST MEDICINE - Discontinuance
Selected by: André de Boer
Country: USA
Sub-genre: Progressive Rock
Description: Beautiful debut album by guitarist Jared Leach, with the help of a few friends, including Sarah Hoefer who guests on vocals, flawlessly fitting with the atmosphere and intention of Jared's compositions. I think this album is a 'one size fits all', meaning it’s impossible anyone in the prog community can't like any of the songs to be discovered here. Some are timid, some are heavy tracks and others are mixed, like the third track Departure. Oh, and by the way, Colin Edwin controls the bass!

5: PLAYMAN54 - Nebula Suite
Selected by: Roger Trenwith
Country: UK
Sub-genre: Synthscapes
Description: Immerse yourself in the sonic washes of Colin Blake's journey through the deep cosmos, painting aural pictures of far-off nebulas; some real, some imagined. Unashamedly owing a heavy debt to early Tangerine Dream, the synthscapes gently unfold in lapping waves, undulating through space and time. A perfect meditation accompaniment, it also works fine as a background for work and study, and it sounds gorgeous.
