1: BIG BIG TRAIN - From Stone and Steel
Selected by: Andy Read
Country: UK
Sub-genre: Progressive rock
Description: Here is something for your ears to bathe in, whilst they await the new opus from England's finest purveyors of pastoral prog. Folklore is due out on May 27th but as a reminder of BBT's amazing back catalogue, this newly-released digital-only album consists of live versions of older songs recorded at the Real World studios in August 2014 for the Stone and Steel Blu-Ray release. From the concise Uncle Jack, to the full 23-minute triumph that is the Underfall Yard. For anyone yet to catch the Train, then this is as good an opportunity as you will get!

2: BIG RED PANDA - Grand Orbiter
Selected by: Peter Funke
Country: Portugal
Sub-genre: Psychedelic progressive rock
Description: Big Red Panda is a five-piece band from the north of Portugal. Two guitars, drums and bass and keys are their base for this journey into space. The music has mainly a positive, relaxed mood with some powerful, groovy rhythms (High Ride). Psychedelic elements are created by spacey sounds and recurring phrases, with mid-tempo soli, which may remind you of jam-bands like Widespread Panic. There are not many vocal parts on this recording and we don't hear typical song structures with a lead voice. This is a fine piece of music which deserves a listening.

3: PSEUDO/SENTAI - Bansheeface
Selected by: Raffaella Berry
Country: USA
Sub-genre: Modern eclectic prog
Description: Five years in the making, Bansheeface is the fourth full-length release by NYC duo Pseudo/Sentai (aka Greg Murphy and Scott Baker), featuring drummer extraordinaire Jeff Eber (of Dysrhythmia and Zevious fame). Based on an elaborate sci-fi concept handled with humour, the album is an exciting blend of energy, technical chops, melody and diverse influences that may remind listeners of a tighter, more focused The Mars Volta.

Selected by: Roger Trenwith
Country: UK/Colombia

Selected by: Raimond Fischbach
Country: Israel
Sub-genre: Progressive rock
Description: Progressive music was something that never seemed to happen in Israel until recent years. Now, at last the country has a slowly-growing prog scene with a couple of brilliant artists. Stein is the first effort of Tal Rubinstein, combining prog rock and metal, folk and medieval music. The concept is about the last days of the crusaders in the holy land.
