Country: USA
Sub-genre: Jazz Rock
Description: A few amazing debuts in a row now. If groovy jazz rock means anything to you, listen. If you think you hate it, listen. The rock and jazz parts are evenly divided or integrated, the latter being very addictive really. Ella Sears' vocals need a little time to adjust to, please grant her that time and you will see how fantastic she sounds and fits in. This young seven piece band impresses with this great debut 'What We've Noticed'. Listen now and enjoy!

3: THE WINSTONS - The Winstons
Selected by: Raffaella BerryCountry: Italy
Sub-genre: Psych/Canterbury
Description: Based in Milan, The Winstons are a trio of established musicians from the Italian indie-rock scene who perform under pseudonyms. Their eponymous debut album, released in the very early days of 2016, is the result of a series of concerts played throughout the country, as well as the strong bond of friendship between the members. It is also one of those rare albums that manage to be “retro” in the best possible way – paying homage to the golden age of English psychedelia and the Canterbury sound (especially Soft Machine and Gong) with outstanding instrumental proficiency, plenty of whimsical humour, and a healthy pinch of Italian flair. A very rewarding, entertaining listen, highly recommended to Canterbury fans everywhere.

4: CAREN COLTRANE CRUSADE - The Bell
Selected by: Raimond Fischbach
Country: Poland
Sub-genre: Experimental Electronica
Description: Whoever Caren Coltrane is, I don’t know that, but no band member has that name. So the band name remains a riddle. But I know that this definitely is not another Riverside clone. By far not. This trio here experiments with electronic sounds, acoustic percussion and female vocals. Most of the times it makes me think of The Residents collaborating with a grown-up Nina Hagen. 5: JUMBLE HOLE CLOUGH - Live at the Nutclough Tavern 23rd January 2016
Selected by: Roger TrenwithCountry: UK
Sub-genre: Ambient Funk
Description: Tucked away in a beautiful part of Yorkshire there lies a band named after a local beauty spot who over the years have released many albums of gentle spidery ambient funk, the latest of which would be literally "hot off the presses" were such quaint objects still extant. Recorded live in a pub, Jumble Hole Clough - aka Colin Robinson and sundry boxes of tricks - provide strange accompaniment to a quiet drink in the local. Anyone who can come up with a track title like "Drive-by yoghurt attack on crochet teacher's haberdashery leaves her shaken (Soundcheck 3)" is alright by me.
